在談到其妹妹去世后，在季后賽中為綠軍砍下53分時，小托馬斯表示：“那是我在籃球場上最奇怪的時刻之一。我什么都聽不到，我感覺我就像是一個人在訓練館。我感覺我的妹妹就在那里，每次投籃，她都在……我感覺到她就在那里幫助我，我甚至無法描述那些時刻?！?/p>

2017年5月3日，小托馬斯在對陣奇才的季后賽中砍下53分，之前他的妹妹因車禍去世。
